‘Sputnik’ joins Safe Internet League

The Safe Internet League hails its new member, the Sputnik Internet portal. An agreement to that effect has been signed by the website’s administration and the League. The agreement speaks of the two organizations joining forces to shape a safe information environment for Russian-language Internet users.

‘You may recall that Sputnik’s Internet search engine was awarded Safe Internet League’s top safety rating. It means that Sputnik, just like the Safe Internet League, sees user safety as its top priority. So its becoming part of our big team here is only natural’ commented Safe Internet League Chairman of the Board Denis Davydov.

‘Developing its online services, Sputnik aims at Russian families, focusing on usefulness and safety. Public surveys show that 94% of Russian parents are concerned with what kind of websites their children visit, yet only about 17% are using some sort of antivirus programme. We will gladly cooperate with any organization aiming to bridge this gap. You can’t talk about digital literacy without ensuring that the tools for achieving it are easy to use and accessible. I am sure that together Sputnik and the Safe Internet League will offer Internet users a chance to make theirs a comfortable and safe online environment’ noted Spuntik’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Aleksey Basov.
